Twenty-one-year-old R.J. Garrett, a member of the football team, and Gary Doxy, also 21 and a former player, were arrested Tuesday on charges of robbing two students in their dorm room.
Police believe the robbery was in retaliation for some racial slurs made by a member of the Cal crew team during a party, but they say the suspects robbed the wrong students.
The crew team member has been suspended and faces student conduct charges.
