PG&E unveils Mitsubishi electric car

SAN FRANCISCO

The iMiEV carries four people and can travel up to 100 miles on a single charge.

It runs on an lithium ion battery which powers a state of the art electric drive train.

PG&E plans to use it for research, testing and demonstration purposes. Officials want to show the benefits of dedicated electric vehicles in California.

PG&E has offered an electric vehicle rate to its customers since the mid-90s to encourage off-peak charging.
