Two people walking on South Salmon Creek Beach found the body in the surf around 5:30 p.m. and moved it to dry land, said Jeremy Stinson, supervising ranger with California State Parks.
The body was later identified as that of a man reported missing to Davis police on Sunday, Stinson said.
Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the death.
