TB skin tests begin at UC Berkeley

Officials at UC Berkeley will begin skin tests Tuesday on more than 200 people who may have been exposed to tuberculosis.

The testing comes after a student at the university was diagnosed with an active case of the disease.

Health officials say TB can spread when an infected person coughs or sneezes, and people in close contact directly inhale the germs over an extended period of time.

It is not spread through casual contact.
