Oakland officer hospitalized after car crash

An Oakland police officer was hospitalized after a vehicle apparently ran a red light and crashed into a patrol car this morning, according to police.

The crash was reported at about 1 a.m. in the intersection of 35th and Market streets, according to Oakland police.

A nearby building was also damaged as a result of the crash, police said.

The police officer and the driver of the vehicle were both taken to Highland Hospital, according to police. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
