Jose Bravo, 19, was arrested for charges that include stealing a car, reckless driving, and evading arrest, according to Cmdr. Mike Richards. Bravo's home address is unclear.

A deputy observed Bravo driving recklessly in a 1990 Honda Accord around 3 a.m. on East Blanco Road in Salinas, Richards said.

According to the deputy's report, Bravo ran a red light at Blanco and Sanborn roads and would not pull over when the deputy turned on his emergency lights and siren.

Blanco drove at a high speed, Richards said, pursued by the deputy. At one point, he crossed into oncoming traffic to pass a tractor-trailer.

Blanco crashed his vehicle into a pole at the intersection of South Sanborn Road and Mayfair Drive, Richards said, got out and tried to run. The deputy used a Taser to stun him into submission, Richards said, and took Blanco into custody.

The car turned out to be stolen from a Marina man. Richards said that substance abuse or alcohol "doesn't appear to be an issue."
