The fire was reported around 8:30 a.m. at a condo in a three-story building at 509 Portero Ave., near 18th Street, and was initially threatening the building next door, fire Lt. Mindy Talmadge said.

Firefighters kept the flames mostly confined to the bedroom of the condo, and the building next door sustained only minor damage to its exterior, Talmadge said.

One woman complained of minor pain, mostly related to smoke inhalation, and has been treated, Talmadge said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
