Victor Ricardo Galan-Ortiz, 23, was unlicensed, allegedly drunk and possibly driving too fast on Hoen Avenue near Boston Court just after midnight when police said he collided with the truck head-on in the opposing lane.
Galan-Ortiz was taken to a local hospital with significant injuries, but is expected to survive, police said.
Police said he may face drunken-driving charges.
