The child was in her walker when she fell into the pool at about 8:45 a.m. at her family's home in the 5000 block of Star Mine Way.

When she was pulled out of the pool, she had no pulse and was not breathing, Hopkins said.

A neigbor adminstered CPR to the child until she was taken by helicopter to Children's Hospital in Oakland. She was still in the hospital this afternoon, but was awake and making "happy noises," Hopkins said.

"That's why we encourage everyone to learn CPR, especially parents," Hopkins said.

She added that most people who end up using CPR do so on a member of their own family.
