The medical examiner's office today identified the victim as 38-year-old Charles Eason. His city of residence has not been determined.

According to police spokeswoman Sgt. Lyn Tomioka, just after 2 p.m., officers responded to a report of a vehicle that had crashed into a building at a public housing complex in the 100 block of Dakota Street.

Inside the vehicle, they found Eason shot multiple times, Tomioka said. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he died about two hours later.

No arrests have been made in connection with the case, and police have no suspect information, Tomioka said.
