Fong gets ready to retire from SFPD

Heather Fong carried out one of her last official duties as chief of the San Francisco Police Department.

The ceremony was meant to acknowledge officers who have earned promotions, but they also paid tribute to Fong, who has served 32 years with the department.

The chief had originally planned to retire on April 30th, but agreed to stay on until her successor was hired.

George Gascon is expected to be officially sworn in next week.
