The government's new security requirement for additional personal information is aimed at cutting down on cases of mistaken identity.

The idea is to prevent people from being kept off flights because their names are similar to those on federal terror watch lists.

The change comes as the Transportation Security Administration is taking over the job of checking airline passenger names against government watch lists.
