The driver died around 1:30 Thursday morning when the car struck a parked car and a light post and overturned at the intersection of Grove Street and Redwood Boulevard.
Investigators say the driver was apparently trying to get away from being arrested for drunk driving when he led officers on a short chase that took him onto Highway 238.
The man's name has not been released, but he was reported dead at a hospital shortly after the crash.
