At around 7:50 p.m., a dark gray van with tinted windows pulled up and stopped alongside a 14-year-old Casa Grande High School student walking on Ely Boulevard South, according to a school alert released by the Petaluma Police Department.

The driver of the van, described as an overweight white man with a dark brown moustache and goatee, allegedly asked the girl if she wanted to get in, according to police.

The teenager ran and the suspect did not follow her.

The victim told police the suspect was large with a round face, was likely in his late 30s or early 40s and wore a dark baseball cap, T-shirt and pants. The suspect van had only front windows.

Police issued the alert late Tuesday to make parents and school staff aware of the harassment and possible danger.

Anyone with information regarding the school alert or the suspected harasser should contact the Petaluma Police Department at (707) 778-4372.
