Lightning causes fires across Bay Area

CAL FIRE crews are battling between 15 and 20 lightening fires in portions of Alameda and Santa Clara counties, a dispatcher said Saturday morning.

The blazes all appear to be the result of lightning, he said. The fires were spread out through the central area of the Diablo Mountain Range, he said, between Interstate Highway 580 and state Highway 152.

"If you take that whole stripe, that's what's getting hit," he said.

CAL FIRE said they were dispatching available equipment and crew and working to determine which fires take priority.
