A Martinez man was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of setting a series of grass fires in Contra Costa and Solano counties, Cal Fire spokesman Daniel Berlant said.

Daniel Lee Pletcher, 24, was arrested at about 10:30 a.m. and was still being interviewed by investigators Wednesday afternoon.

Berlant did not have information about the specific dates or locations of the fires, but said Pletcher is suspected of lighting multiple fires in Contra Costa County and possibly one in Solano County.

None of the fires caused any injuries or major property damage, but there is always the potential for a grass fire to burn out of control and do just that, Berlant said.

The arrest comes after a yearlong investigation by Cal Fire, the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, the Contra Costa District Attorney's office, the Martinez Police Department, the East Bay Regional Park District, the Solano County District Attorney's office and the California Highway Patrol.
