AC Transit considers reducing planned cuts

AC Transit officials are holding a public hearing in Oakland Friday night to consider a plan to reduce planned service cuts.

The agency is considering taking $80 million set aside for a future rapid transit bus route through Oakland, Berkeley and San Leandro.

Instead, the money would be used to reduce the planned 15 percent cut in service hours that go into effect in January.

AC Transit officials are trying to determine if shifting the funds is legal.
