Police received a call at 5:15 a.m. from someone reporting that a woman was injured inside a home in the 4500 block of Penniman Avenue.

Officers arrived to find the woman bleeding from what appeared to be stab wounds, Thomason said. She was taken to a hospital but died of her injuries.

Shortly after the stabbing was reported, a man approached an officer and turned himself in for the crime, Thomason said. Police are still confirming the relationship between the suspect and the victim.

Later this morning, at 6:30 a.m., police were alerted by the department's ShotSpotter gunshot detection system that shots had been fired in the area of 8335 International Blvd.

They headed to that address where they found a woman dead inside a vehicle, Thomason said. Inside a home nearby, officers found a man shot to death.

Police are investigating the case as a murder-suicide and Thomason said the initial investigation has indicated the man may have shot the woman then shot himself. Investigators are still determining the relationship between the two.

Police are not seeking any additional suspects in the killings and have not yet released the names of the three people who died.
