Wind advisory issued for Bay Area

Winds are expected to reach 25 to 35 mph with gusts of more than 45 mph forecast for the San Francisco Bay shoreline, including San Francisco International Airport.

The advisory will be in effect between 1 a.m. today and 11 a.m. Wednesday and the weather service is advising motorists to drive with extra caution.

Additionally, a high wind warning will be in effect for Bay Area hills above 1,000 feet, where winds of up to 40 mph and gusts of up to 60 mph are expected. High wind warnings are issued when sustained winds can lead to property damage, according to the weather service.

The high wind warning is scheduled to be in effect between 2 a.m. today and 11 a.m. Wednesday.
