Scott's body was found off state Highway 1 between Muir and Stinson beaches. He had been reported missing to Novato police Sunday night. A relative spotted the body at about 8 a.m. Monday, Golden Gate National Recreation Area spokeswoman Ozola Cody said.
The Marin County coroner's office, Stinson Beach lifeguards and the Marin County Sheriff's Office search-and-rescue team recovered the body near the shoreline shortly before 9 a.m. Monday, Cody said.
The search-and-rescue team and Golden Gate National Recreation Area rangers searched for the man until about 12:30 a.m. Monday, Cody said.
An autopsy is scheduled for this morning.
