Santa Clara to put stadium proposal on June ballot

SANTA CLARA, CA

Tuesday night, the city council first certified an environmental impact report in order to move the $937 million project forward.

But a last-minute lawsuit threatens to throw a wrench into the works. The owner of the Great America theme park, which leases the parking lot where the stadium would be built, filed a lawsuit on Monday.

It claims the city violated state laws by approving a stadium agreement without first doing an environmental study.

The theme park owner says it would be willing to drop its lawsuit, if the city renegotiates Great America's rental agreement.
