Charlie Gibson retires from the anchor chair

NEW YORK

To his ABC family on Thursday Gibson said "It has been an honor to work with all of you…truly an honor. I have loved every damn day of it."

The 66-year-old first started with ABC News in 1975 as a White House correspondent.

For three and a half decades, as history was written, Gibson was there to tell us about it.

Diane Sawyer will take over anchor duties at "World News."

All of us at ABC7 News wish him a long and happy retirement.
