Twitter turns a profit for first time

For the first time, twitter has turned a profit.

That's after the San Francisco startup struck deals with Google and Microsoft that will allow users' tweets to become searchable.

Those two deals are worth a combined $25 million, according to "Business Week."

The nation's third most popular social networking site is also starting an advertising program early next year.
