207 arrested by Sonoma DUI task force

The Avoid the 13 Sonoma DUI taskforce has surpassed last year's number of DUI arrests, but alcohol-related fatal crashes are down this holiday season, according to Petaluma Police Department Sgt. Ken Savano.

The taskforce had arrested 207 DUI offenders by New Year's Day. Of those, 179 drivers were arrested for DUI and 28 people were arrested for outstanding DUI warrants.

There have been no alcohol-related fatal crashes since the campaign began Dec. 18.

During the 2008 winter holiday DUI campaign, 176 people were arrested for DUI in Sonoma County, and there were four DUI fatal crashes and 21 DUI-related injury collisions.
