Authorities served about a dozen search warrants in North Richmond this morning as part of an ongoing effort to stem drug activity in the area, Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said.

The warrants were served throughout North Richmond at about 7 a.m. Lee did not yet have details about what was confiscated during the searches or how many people were arrested.

Lee said several law enforcement agencies were involved, including the sheriff's office and the Richmond and San Pablo police departments.

"We've been there in that community over the years with similar operations," Lee said. "We're just trying to make the community a little bit safer and target the drug problem there."
