Supervisor sees hope for Fremont's NUMMI

FREMONT, CA

NUMMI, once a joint venture between General Motors and Toyota is expected to shut down in April. The closure will mean the loss of nearly 5,000 jobs at the plant.

Supervisor Keith Carson says he met Wednesday with a representative for a car manufacturer. He would only say it is in an Asian country other than China.

Carson says he hopes to have a face-to-face meeting with the company's top management in the next 30 days.
