"We targeted about 200 people, most of them parole or probation, known gang members, people with extensive criminal records in San Francisco; we know these are the people that are committing a great deal of crimes in our neighborhoods and this is what the operation was about," San Francisci Police Chief George Gascon said.
Gascon says his department received assistance from state and federal law enforcement agencies.
