Woman who fell to death from ferry identified

Hudson didn't have a fixed residence, the spokesman said.

At 9:17 a.m. Friday, the captain of the Oakland-Alameda Ferry vessel Peralta reported a possible person overboard west of Alameda Point, U.S. Coast Guard Lt. j.g. Jeremy Pichette said.

The Coast Guard sent out two vessels and a helicopter to search the area.

At 9:56 a.m. Friday, the helicopter crew spotted someone in the water south of Yerba Buena Island and west of Alameda Point in Oakland, according to Pickette.

A small boat was directed to the area, where the crew recovered Hudson from the water and began administering CPR.

Hudson was taken to Pier 39 in San Francisco, where she was pronounced dead.

A Coast Guard spokeswoman said today that the incident is still under investigation and authorities haven't determined if it was a suicide.
