Crash cleared on I-80 in Richmond at Appian Way

A Sig-alert on westbound Interstate Highway 80 in Richmond has been lifted after a two-vehicle collision this morning that required at least one person to be airlifted to an area hospital.

The alert was issued at about 7:30 a.m. at Appian Way after two vehicles were involved in a collision, causing all lanes to be closed.

At least one vehicle rolled several times, temporarily trapping someone inside, California Highway Patrol Officer Scott Cakebread said.

The individual was taken to the hospital by helicopter by about 8:10 a.m.

It was unclear if any other passengers were injured, Cakebread said.

All lanes were reopened at about 8:50 a.m.
