In Pleasanton, some thieves were hoping to strike it rich by breaking into an ATM.

Police say they drove a stolen van through the glass windows of a convenience store on Stonebridge Road Saturday morning, but as they were ripping the ATM out of the ground, a police officer pulled up.

The suspects drove off and bailed out of the van on Interstate 580.

The suspects got away but police say the suspects did not get any cash, because it was all stored underground in a vault.
