Citizens for the Lost Society released 243 balloons to mark each of the days since Hassani disappeared on August 10, 2009.
Hassani's foster father told police he left him outside the Oakland shoe store where his wife worked on College Avenue.
Police arrested both of his foster parents for his murder, but Alameda County prosecutors declined to file charges against them and they were released from jail.
