Klamath drought threatens ag research

KLAMATH FALLS, OR

Researchers at the Intermountain Research and Extension Center in Tulelake, Calif., and the Oregon State University Klamath Experiment Station near Klamath Falls are scrambling to find water.

Studies at the two sites produce information on what crops do best in the local region.

A research extension agent for the OSU Klamath center told the Herald and News the search for water for their research projects has been consuming most of their time.

The lack of rain and snow this year means just a fraction of normal irrigation for the region's federal irrigation project so that enough water is available for protected fish.
