The program, called "Let's Move," would change product labeling, improve school lunches and encourage more physical activity. But, UCSF experts say those methods have had only limited success.
"We think it's extremely important that the "Let's Move" campaign target pregnant women and infants because we know that there are certain early interventions that can have a long-term impact in terms of preventing childhood obesity," says Janet Wojcicki.
Among those early interventions, research shows breast feeding protects against obesity. They also suggest helping children develop better eating habits before they enter school and noted that even toddlers in America can show signs of obesity.
