They want to test out the plan in commercial corridors in five neighborhoods including Marina-Cow Hollow, Inner Richmond, Hayes Valley, West Portal and the Financial District next to North Beach.
The pilot would begin in June and last 90 days.
Officials say charging for parking on Sundays would discourage drivers from leaving their cars all day and make it easier for others to find parking. The plan could also produce extra revenue to support Muni.
