The one tree being removed is just feet from the YMCA building on Quito Road. A structural engineer and an arborist have determined the tree is diseased and must come down immediately -- so that it doesn't topple onto the building.
But, several YMCA members and preservationists spent weeks fighting the decision -- believing neither tree poses a safety hazard.
