Oakland police investigate early morning homicide

Police in Oakland are investigating a homicide that took place in the city early this morning.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired near the 900 block of Campbell Street at around 2:15 a.m., an Oakland police officer said.

A shooting victim was found at the reported location, police said. The victim was taken to a local hospital and declared dead.

No arrests were made, and further details regarding the victim, possible suspects and a motive were not immediately available.
