Meter maid parks illegally while shopping

SAN FRANCISCO

The jittery video shows a San Francisco DPT parking control vehicle illegally parked in a commercial loading zone for six-wheeled trucks.

The unidentified amateur photographer finds the DPT officer shopping at the Goodwill store near Geary and Hyde.

"It is against our policy for her to park illegally," SFMTA spokesperson Kristen Holland said.

The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency says that is not the only violation -- the officer was shopping while on duty.

"The agency does not have a double standard, we want our parking control officers to follow those same regulations," Holland said.

Employees at the Goodwill store say at least two DPT officers frequently park illegally and shop during morning hours.

"Certainly she should pay for whatever tickets she's accrued, plus some because she's abusing the power that other people can't," San Francisco resident Edward Park said.

MTA officials say the case is still under investigation and the officer will be dealt with appropriately.

Meanwhile the YouTube video has gone viral and San Francisco residents, many who have gotten their share of tickets, seem to be savoring the moment.

People love to hate parking control officers. It is a tough job, but the MTA says they still have to follow the same traffic laws as everybody else and violations should be reported by calling 311.
