San Francisco study says economy gaining momentum

America's economic recovery may be faster and more robust than first thought.

That was the conclusion of a study by a pair of economists at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. The study's authors say the economy continues to gain momentum and consumer spending and business investment continue to improve.

Most economists disagree with the new assessment. They predict a sluggish recovery could be slowed further by the Greek debt crisis and by lukewarm April retail sales.
