It appears the Line NX bus and the cyclist were both traveling on MacArthur Boulevard, approaching Patterson Avenue, when the collision occurred at about 4:36 p.m., AC Transit spokesman Clarence Johnson said.
The cyclist was killed in the crash. There was no report of injuries to any passengers on the bus, which has been taken out of service.
Johnson said traffic was still being diverted around the intersection of MacArthur Boulevard and Patterson Avenue at about 5:30 p.m., but that the collision has not affected AC-Transit service otherwise.
Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Holly Joshi said officers were at the scene this evening investigating the crash.
