A Pebble Beach man convicted of raping a woman in Carmel Valley in 2008 has been sentenced to eight years in prison and faces two more rape charges, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo announced Friday.

Thomas Pollacci, 50, was found guilty of meeting a woman at a liquor store in Carmel Valley in April 2008 and coaxing her up to his room above the business, according to Flippo.

The victim apparently fought off a first assault, but lost consciousness and woke up later at Community Hospital of Monterey Peninsula, where a sexual assault exam confirmed she had been raped.

Along with the eight-year sentence, Pollacci is also scheduled for a preliminary hearing July 16 for raping two other women, one in 2007 and another in 2008.

A conviction could bring a sentence of 24 years.
