Fossils found at the Caldecott construction site

According to ABC7's media partners at the Oakland Tribune, the scientists are shifting through the dirt and rock from the tunnel excavation and discovering fossils from millions of years ago.

This is the first time Caltrans has called in paleontologists at the beginning of a Bay Area freeway project.

So far they have found a tooth, likely from a camel and remains of fish scales, plants and other bone bits.
