Deputies find guns, drugs in homes, arrest three men

MONTEREY COUNTY, CA

With the assistance of the California Highway Patrol and the Watsonville Police Department, the sheriff's office served two gang-related search warrants at the homes of Lucas Pena, 19, and Jose Medina, 18.

During the searches at 44 Miller Road and 149 Las Lomas Drive, authorities seized 11 weapons, including a submachine gun, and what appeared to be cocaine and methamphetamine packaged for sale.

Investigators also found gang paraphernalia at both homes.

Pena and Medina had been identified as suspects in the Aug. 8 shooting, in which three male victims were shot at while they sat inside a silver Subaru parked on Overpass Road shortly after midnight.

One of the victims suffered gunshot wounds to the chest.

Deputies also arrested Vincent Pena, 18, during the search at 44 Miller Road.

All three men were booked into Monterey County Jail on multiple charges.
