The capybaras are natives of South America. They live in dense forests and near lakes, rivers and swamps and can weigh up to 140 pounds.
The rodents of unusual size, named Rosemary and Beryl, are females, and will be making their home in the Puente Al Sur section of the zoo. Their names were chosen by two families during the annual Zoo Fest last April.
