NASA gloves cause astronauts to lose fingernails

According to the National Geographic, astronauts with wider hands are more likely to have their nails fall off after working in their space suit gloves.

In fact, MIT researchers say fingernail trauma and other hand injuries -- no matter the hand size --are the number one nuisance for space-walkers.

NASA is trying to improve the glove design.

For now, the only solutions are to use protective dressings, keep nails trimmed, or for some extreme preventative steps researchers say they know of some astronauts who removed their fingernails prior to a spacewalk.
