Man With Cerebral Palsy Climbs El Capitan

YOSEMITE, CA

Stephen Wampler wants to become the first person with Cerebral Palsy to climb El Capitan in Yosemite National Park.

Wampler grew up in Lafayette.

The disorder has left him in a wheelchair for most of his life. He trained for a year to learn to climb using a system of ropes. Each pull brings him five inches closer to the top.

Wampler is hoping to raise $2 million for a camp he operates for kids with disabilities.
