Schwarzenegger extends benefits to foster kids

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation Wednesday extending benefits to foster kids. They will now be covered until they are 21 years old, instead of losing coverage at 18.

The bill also makes it easier for relatives to adopt children, rather than placing them in foster care.

And the measure aligns California with regulations making the state eligible for federal funding for transitional support for most foster youth.
