In August, their 8-year-old son, Christian, was diagnosed with aplastic anemia. It's a rare blood disease in which a patient produces few red blood cells. Christian has received multiple transfusions, but may need a bone marrow transplant.

There will be a screening for potential bone marrow candidates at St. Anne School in the Sunset District today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
