Redwood City may get more red light cameras

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.

The City Council has voted unanimously to keep its current cameras operating and wants to install more cameras at other intersections.

A civil grand jury report questioned the systems' effectiveness on traffic safety, but pointed out that they were generating significant money for peninsula cities.

Two cameras at busy Whipple Avenue and Veterans Boulevard are expected to net Redwood City $325,000 this year.
