Illegally dumped materials blight Baywiew

SAN FRANCISCO

Large piles of roofing materials were found on Sept. 23 on Arelious Walker Drive near Egbert Avenue, and again in the same place on Wednesday morning, DPW officials said. A similar incident occurred on Sunday on Donner Avenue a few blocks away.

The department has increased its reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible to $1,000.

"Illegal dumping is a crime that costs taxpayers millions of dollars every year," DPW Deputy Director of Operations Mohammad Nuru said in a statement.

Nuru asked members of the public to provide information that will help prosecute "the people responsible for disrespecting our neighborhoods and creating blight."

The DPW said it is working with police in the Bayview to investigate recent dumping incidents.
