Bank of America honors local charity heroes

Some of those who help thousands of people in need in San Francisco were honored Wednesday morning by Bank of America's prestigious "Neighborhood Excellence Initiative" to improve communities.

Cheryl Jennings emceed the event at which five local heroes received an award of $5,000 to donate to the non-profits of their choice. The man known as "Chef Jeff" Henderson was the keynote speaker. He talked about his rise from a 10-year prison sentence for drug dealing to chef, to motivational speaker.

Two organizations received grants of $200,000 each to continue their work. ABC7 congratulates all of them.
